Epiphone's Equivalent of the Gibson EB-0
A Must for the Serious Bass Collector

This Epiphone equivalent of the much loved Gibson EB-0 bass weighs just 7.50 lbs. and has a really nice fat nut width of just under 1 3/4 inches and a short scale length of 30 1/2 inches. Symmetrical double cutaway solid mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck with a thick profile, and rosewood fretboard with 20 frets and inlaid pearl dot position markers. Gold silk-screened headstock logo. Individual two-on-a-side tuners with cloverleaf metal buttons. Single black plastic-covered PAF pickup with four polepieces and a huge output of 31.60k. Three-layer (white/black/white) plastic pickguard. Two controls (one volume, one tone). The potentiometers are stamped "134 6120" and "134 6137" (Centralab May and August 1961). Clear plastic barrel shaped "speed" knobs. Original stop tailpiece. The original metal hand rest cover and the thumb brace mounted on the pickguard are missing. There is some light body checking and a few marks on the body, some of which are down to the wood. There are also some small areas of wear on the back of the neck, the largest being behind the tenth fret. The edges of the headstock show some wear, but overall this extremely rare bass is in excellent plus (8.75) and totally original condition. Housed in a later (seventies?) black hardshell case with maroon plush lining (8.50).

This is an extremely rare Epiphone model. We have only seen one other in over thirty years of collecting. This single-pickup Newport model is basically an Epiphone EB-0. It features a symetrical double-cutaway body, a silk-screened headstock logo, a three-ply white pickguard, and all nickel hardware.

An absolute must for any serious Bass collector.

I've never seen one of those things. That sound is just perfection. Like a Fender Bass VI in a Tone Master with the phase and all pickups on.
