This is an all original 135 watt 'Twin Reverb' cabinet tube combo legend weighing 78 lbs. The solid pine cabinet measures 26 inches wide x 20 inches high (22 3/4 inches with the wheels). The depth of the cabinet is 8 3/4 inches at the top expanding to 10 1/2 inches at the bottom. Two original twelve-inch Fender Speakers with stamped codes: "137-7850" (CTS 50th week of 1978), and "005379 8 ohms". 'Twin-channel' control panel with two 'normal' and two 'vibrato' instrument inputs. Two volume controls and a master volume control with a push-pull 'distortion' switch. Two 'treble', two 'middle', two 'bass', 'reverb', 'speed' and 'intensity' controls. Each channel with a separate 'bright' switch. The tubes are 3 x 7025; 2 x 12AT7; 1 x 12 AX7 and 4 x 6L6GC. Original black tolex covering with original blue-sparkle style 2 grill cloth. The serial number "A 970731" is stamped on the side of the chassis. The black tolex covering is almost mint and the original black plastic handle shows no sign of wear. A near mint (9.25) example of one of the most popular amps of all time.
The Twin Reverb was originally introduced in September 1963. "In the mid-seventies… another well-intentioned circuit upgrade was made: the Boost circuit. This was activated by a new pull-knob volume pot, and actually was a practical feature, though not as controllable as a true channel-switching system. A Hum Balance control was also added around this time. By the end of '77 the power was reportedly increased to 135 watts, which is really pushing the tubes, but gives a loud, clear sound. A Line / Recording out jack and an Output Tubes Matching circuit were added shortly thereafter." Teagle and Sprung. Fender Amps. The First Fifty Years (p. 86).
