A Near Mint '64 Country Gentleman.
1964 Gretsch Country Gentaleman 6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman (third version).
This "top dog" of the Chet Atkins models has a double cutaway thinline laminated maple body and weighs just 8.40 lbs. Three-piece rock maple neck with a medium-to-thick profile, ebony fretboard with pearl half-moon position markers. One Super'Tron II and one Filter'Tron pickup with outputs of 4.08k and 3.93k. Gold-plated bar bridge on ebony base and gold-plated Gretsch B-6 Bigsby tailpiece. All hardware gold plated. A real collectors gem. Housed in the original Gretsch two-tone gray five-latch hardshell case with maroon plush lining (8.75). Three years ago we had another Country Gentleman (serial # 68135) which had all of the exact "George Harrison" specifications - and was only 19 guitars ahead in production of this example (serial # 68154) - probably the previous week in 1964.
