1999 Godin A4 Fretless Bass.
This 'fretless' bass weighs just 8.30 pounds and features a single-bound, solid cedar top on a twin-chambered Silver Leaf maple back and sides. One-piece rock maple neck with a scale length of 34 1/4 inches, a nut width of just under 1 9/16 inches and a wonderful medium-to-fat profile. Ebony fretboard with white dot side position markers. Black faced headstock with "Godin" and "A4" white logo and single round string-tree. Serial number "99024451" blind-stamped onto the back of the headstock. Individual Schaller style bass tuners with cloverleaf shaped metal buttons. LR Baggs under saddle Ribbon Transducer and custom preamp with Volume, Mid, Treble and Bass slider switches. Bone saddle bridge on specific ebony base. This fabulous guitar is in near mint (9.25) condition - in fact it has hardly ever been played. With the original D'Addario flat-wound 45/65/80/100 strings. Complete with the original warranty card and truss-rod adjustment tool. Housed in its original Godin five-latch, shaped black hardshell case with black plush lining (9.00).
The A4 bass produces acoustic bass sounds from an instrument that is only slightly larger than a standard solid body bass - but much lighter. The two chambered body design resists feedback as well as the negative effects that loud stage levels can have on top vibration. Vibration of the solid cedar top is further controlled by a cello inspired bracing pattern. The custom A-Bass electronics include an under-saddle ribbon transducer and pre-amp by L.R.Baggs.
