"The appearance of a rosewood flat-top guitar in the Gibson line is a rare occasion. In Gibson's one hundred year history, only about a half-dozen production models were of rosewood. The J-60 Rosewood is the first new release of its kind in over 20 years, and its debut in 1992 was especially important because it came as a result of an overwhelming demand for a rosewood Gibson flat-top. The J-60 brings pre-war Gibson quality to a modern square shouldered dreadnought. It features a hand tuned top with Gibson's '30s-style 'Advanced Bracing Pattern' which gives this guitar a volume, tone, and projection suitable for concert hall and ensemble performance" ("The Gibson J-60" at http://www.gibson.net/products/montana/1996/concert/j60.html).
"Long-time Gibson fans will recognize that this dreadnought is not one of the newcomers of the Custom Acoustic line; we include it here due to its similar features and its Advanced Bracing Pattern, which provides it with maximum volume, projection and tonal response. Its square-shoulder dreadnought shape, dovetail neck-to-body joint, solid Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides make it the perfect choice for those looking for a traditional styled instrument. Other features include a vintage-style neck with Ebony fingerboard, Ebony belly bridge, tortoise teardrop pickguard, and the pearl script Gibson headstock logo. Gold tuners, multiple body binding and a factory-installed transducer pick-up with active pre-amp are features sure to please the discriminating buyer. This is our powerhouse acoustic, the perfect choice for live solo and ensemble performers" ("The J-60 Traditional" at http://www.gibson.com/products/montana/1998/j60.html).
