An Absolutely Mint Freddie Tavares Commemorative Aloha Stratocaster
This Fender Custom Shop "Freddie Tavares Aloha" Stratocaster was made in 1994. The serial number (on the back of the headstock) is "024". It weighs just 8.00 lbs. and has a nice fat nut width of just over1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 25 1/2 inches. Aluminium body, hand engraved with a Hawaiian scene by master artisan Ron Chacey, contoured on back and lower bass bout, and one-piece highly figured 'birds-eye' maple neck and fretboard with 22 frets and green 'pearl' dot position markers and Aloha and palm tree pearl inlays by Larry Sifel. Small headstock with Fender logo inlaid in abalone and a cresting wave also inlaid in abalone above the logo. On the ball end of the headstock is a palm tree inlaid in white and green pearl and the signature of "Freddie Tavares" in black. Kluson Deluxe closed-back 'no-name' tuners with oval metal buttons. On the back of the headstock is a decal with "DE 4 / 024 of 153 / Custom Shop / USA" in black. Four-bolt neck plate engraved "Custom Shop / USA". Aluminium tremolo cover engraved " Freddie Tavares / Commemorative / Aloha / Stratocaster". Three 'Single Lace Sensor' pickups with specially wound outputs of 4.82k, 6.95k, and 4.57k, respectively. Specially hand engraved aluminium pickguard (continuing Ron Chacey's Hawaiian scene from the body) with eleven screws. Three controls (one volume, two tone) plus five-way selector switch, all on the treble side of the pickguard. Special chrome Stratocaster knobs with knurled sides. Fender "Synchronized Tremolo" combined 'six-saddle' bridge/tailpiece, special chrome tremolo arm. This 'as new' example is in mint (9.50) condition and is in it's baby blue leather Custom Shop gig bag which in turn is housed in the original SKB flightcase with all the original kit. The 'case candy' includes the baby blue leather Custom Shop gig bag with matching shoulder strap, the baby blue Custom Shop Aloha guitar strap, tremolo arm, lead, polish etc., plus all papers including the Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity.
Special memorial edition of 153 guitars - 3 for the Tavares family, 100 for North American Fender Diamond dealers, and 50 for international distributors. This no. 24 of 153, and DE4 being number 4 of the Diamond dealer edition. Featuring an aluminium body, hand engraved with a Hawaiian scene by master artisan Ron Chacey, the body, pickguard and hardware nickel plated, a highly figured maple neck with pearl inlays by Larry Sifel, Aloha and palm tree inlays. This guitar has been collector owned from day one, and is in mint, unplayed condition, in the original SKB flightcase with all the original kit. The candy includes the baby blue leather Custom Shop gig bag with matching shoulder strap, the baby blue Custom Shop Aloha guitar strap, tremolo arm, lead, polish etc., plus all papers including the Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity. Other Custom Shop Limited Editions like the Harley Davidson, Playboy, SRV and Monterey are now considerably more expensive, but the Aloha Stratocaster is probably the most tasteful piece of guitar art of them all. In 1995 Fender Australia offered their few from the international 50 at $15,000.00!!!!
