Epiphone Sheraton ll Re-Issue.

1991 Epiphone (Korea) Sheraton II Reissue.

This Korean made, 16-inch-wide, just over 1 3/4 inch thick, thinline guitar weighs just 8.40 lbs. Laminated maple body with maple central block. Three-piece maple neck with two mahogany center strips, a nice medium-to-thin neck profile, a fat nut width of  1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and inlaid pearl block position markers with v-shaped abalone inserts. The body has seven-ply binding on the top and three-ply on the back. The neck is single-bound (white), the fretboard has double white binding on each side, and the headstock is quad-bound. Black-faced headstock with inlaid pearl "Epiphone" script logo and pearl "Vine of Life" inlay. Specific shape, two-later black over white plastic truss-rod cover with three screws and "Gibson" engraved in white. Individual 'Roto-Matic' style tuners with six-sided metal buttons. Serial number "9111112" on small rectangular label on back of headstock. Two Epiphone humbucking pickups with outputs of 8.04k and 8.49k. Faux tortoiseshell pickguard with five-layer (white over black) plastic binding and with large Epiphone stylized "E" in silver. Four controls (two volume, two tone) plus three-way selector switch. Gold plastic bell-shaped knobs. Epiphone Nashville style Tune-O-Matic with metal saddles. Separate stud tailpiece. All hardware gold-plated. A near mint (9.25) example with just some very light tarnishing of the gold pickup covers. Housed in the original Epiphone black, five-latch shaped hardshell case with black plush lining (9.00).

The Sheraton was first introduced way back in 1958. Its fancy inlay and multiple bindings made it a sort of equivalent to Gibson's top semi-hollow model, the ES-355, but the original Sheratons used 'mini-humbucking' pickups whereas this later Korean version uses standard size humbuckers.
