I'm Gonna Getcha Getcha Getcha Getcha!

HARRY, Deborah. "One Way Or Another." Original color photographic print (not a poster) of Blondie's Debbie Harry, inscribed by her in black marker with the opening verses to her hit, One Way or Another, and signed "X Debbie Harry." Ca. 1980. 19 x 22 inches, matted and framed to 28 x 33 inches. With some nicks and scratches to background and thighs that suggests the 1970s New Wave aesthetic that Debbie Harry personified as the movement's high priestess. A few of the scratches to her black dress have been neatly touched up. The end effect is one of gentle, respectful, purposeful yet artful defacement of of a photo of one so beautiful she is impossible to deface.

We have searched through over 1000 images of Harry but have yet to identify this photo or photographer. Vintage Harry, it is, apparently, quite rare in itself. Genuine Harry inscriptions to anything larger than an album cover are scarce; that she has inscribed this huge color print with lyrics to the song she is most closely associated with is quite extraordinary.

The inscription:

"One way or another I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna win ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
X Debbie Harry"

Music, fashion, and pop culture icon Deborah Harry's hit song One Way or Another originally appeared on her group Blondie's 1978 breakout album, Parallel Lines, now considered one of the milestone recordings of the era. She wrote the lyrics from the point of view of an ex-boyfriend who stalked her but hearing her sing "I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha" who wouldn't want to be gotten by Debbie Harry? A Playboy bunny before she became a singer and ranked #12 on VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock n' Roll, she's #1 when it comes to putting the heat in hot; the lady leaves a flame with every step she takes but is too cool to care.

"Whether you know it or not, this woman is responsible for quite a large proportion of your favourite music. She may not have written or performed the songs themselves, but her influence is everywhere. Her name is Debbie Harry, she was at one time the lead singer in Blondie, and...well...musically speaking she's Madonna's elder sister, pop-punk's spiritual godmother (boys AND girls), Girl's Aloud's lairier auntie, and Avril Lavigne's nan" (Intro to BBC Radio1 Chartblog Interview w/Harry Oct. 18, 2007).

Having sold over 140 million records and influenced two generations of musicians and fans, Blondie and Deborah Harry were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
