1979 Fender Stratocaster (Yngwie Malmsteen)
One of Yngwie Malmsteens personal 'Frankenstein' Stratocasters used extensively by him on stage. Asymmetrical double cutaway solid body. This 1972 Stratocaster with a 1979 neck weighs just 7.30 lbs. and has an alder body, contoured on back and lower bass bout. One-piece maple neck featuring a specially scalloped rosewood fretboard with 21 jumbo frets and pearloid dot position markers. Single "butterfly" string tree with metal spacer. The hole for the second string tree has been filled in. Large headstock with "Fender" in black with gold trim, "STRATOCASTER" in black beside it, and serial number "S962286" beneath "Fender." Individual Fender "F" closed-back tuners with octagonal metal buttons. Four-bolt neck plate with four bolts as opposed to screws as per Yngwie. One single-coil DiMarzio HS3 DP-217 and two DiMarzio HS4 DP-217 pickups with staggered pole-pieces and balanced outputs of 22.90k, 22.90k and 22.10k, as per Yngwie. Three-layer white over black plastic pickguard with eleven screws. Three controls (one volume, two tone) plus three-way selector switch, all on pickguard. White plastic Stratocaster knobs with greenish gold lettering. Fender "Synchronized Tremolo" combined bridge/tailpiece. The three potentiometers are all stamped "137 7337" (CTS, September 1973). The end of the neck has been modified (for Yngwie) with the 'Micro-Tilt' area filled in with a piece of maple and four screw holes with metal receptors. The underside of the neck is stamped in black "J. Moreno" and "3904" and the neck cavity has some indiscernible writing in black marker. Yngwie's Ferrari sticker on back of body. Complete with Yngwie's Fender tremolo arm and a Certificate of Authenticty / "I, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Hereby certify / the sale of my guitar from my own / personal collection. / Make / Model "Fender Stratocaster. / 1972 Body with / 1979 Neck" / Seriel # "S962286" / Seller, "[YJM] signature" / Date "September 15 / 2008. (crossed out) 2015". Housed in Ynwie's modern Fender three-latch rectangular 'tweed' case with brown leather ends and orange plush lining with original American Airlines flight label "Malmsteen/Yngwie" Guadalajara - Dallas Fort Worth. Yngwie Johan MALMSTEEN (born Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck) 30th June 1963) is a Swedish guitarist and bandleader. Malmsteen first became known in the 1980s for his neoclassical metal playing style in heavy metal, and has released 20 studio albums in a career spanning almost 40 years. In 2009, Time magazine rated Malmsteen as among the 10 greatest electric guitar players of all time.
