1976 Mosrite Bi-Centennial Archtop (Stereo).

This super rare, unusual and very beautiful 'Bi-Cenetennial' guitar weighs just 7.80 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Nicely-flamed laminated 16 1/2 inches wide, 2 5/8 inches deep, maple body with two-piece 'book-matched' top and back. Semi-solid construction with a wooden central block and eight-ply black and white binding on the the top and back. One-piece bound maple neck with double walnut strips at neck joint and a very fast thin profile. Maple fretboard with inlaid mahogany strips on either side and a central inlay of walnut. Twenty-two original medium frets and inlaid circular 'stars and stripes' position markers in red, white and blue. The twelfth fret also has two inlaid white dot markers. Single-bound unique shaped headstock with red, white and blue inlays on face. The center inlay (white) has a decal with "1776 . 1976  Made in USA" (the gold Mosrite star which should precede this has worn away). Single-layer 'conical' white plastic truss-rod cover with three screws. Gold-plated individual Grover Roto-Matic tuners with half-moon buttons. Two Mosrite humbucking pickups with black plastic surrounds and outputs of 7.80k and 10.58k. Two volume controls plus a three-way pickup selector/tone switch with black plastic tip. Chrome-plated Mosrite 'hat type' control knobs with "M" stamped on top, numbered from 0 to 5. Two jack inputs (one for each pickup) on three-layer white over black plastic cover on treble-side of body, secured by two screws. Mosrite bridge with six individually adjustable saddles and Mosrite "Vibramute" vibrato tailpiece (the base of the Vibramute is copper-plated). There is some finish checking on the body, neck heel and fretboard, but this guitar is still in (9.00) exceptionally fine condition. Housed in the original? four-latch shaped black hardshell case with purple plush lining (9.00).

A very unusual and really wonderful sounding guitar - one of just a handful ever made by Semie Moseley and of great rarity.

This Mosrite Bicentennial edition from 1976 was issued in a very small number to celebrate two hundred years of American independance. The headstock shape on this guitar is rather interesting and is a departure from the shape with the M cutout that we normally expect to see on a Mosrite guitar.
