A near mint and super rare '64 black tolex "Vibroverb AA 763" with that wonderful "Stevie Ray Vaughan" tone that everyone wants… It boasts 40 watts and has one perfect JBL D-130F fifteen-inch speaker. Black Tolex body, with silver sparkle Grill cloth. The cabinet measures 25" w x 20" h x 10 1/2" deep at the bottom and 8 1/2" deep at the top. In early 1963, Fender Electric Instruments offered its first guitar amp with on-board reverb. Called the Vibroverb, this amp was essentially a Fender Super with reverb. However, by the end of the year, the 2x10" model was discontinued and a completely new Vibroverb was offered. This model resembled Fender's Pro model with on-board reverb and had typical "blackface" appointments including LDR type tremolo. It sported a single 15 inch Jensen or JBL speaker and pumped out 40 watts of power. Despite its excellent sound, the second Vibroverb was also short-lived and was discontinued by the end of 1964. It is possible that during that time, Fender's other amplifiers, the Super Reverb, Vibrolux Reverb and Twin Reverb, were simply more popular and outsold the Vibroverb. Perhaps 1x15 combo amps had fallen out of favor by 1964. Despite its past performance record, the 1x15 Vibroverb has become a favorite amp of blues guitarists, most notably the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, and has attracted the attention of collectors for its sound and rarity. In fact, 1x15 reverb combo amps seem to be in favor once again as evidenced by models offered by current manufacturers, as well as by home made Vibroverb clones ("Vibroclone") that use Fender Pro, Super or Bandmaster Reverb chassis in a 1x15 combo cab.
