An Original 1963 Fender Stratocaster Expertly Re-Finished in Daphne Blue
1963 Fender Stratocaster
This pre-CBS Stratocaster has been expertly re-finished quite some time ago in Daphne Blue and weighs just 7.70 lbs. Solid alder body, contoured on back and lower bass bout. One-piece maple neck with a comfortable nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches, a scale length of 25 1/2 inches, and a thin-to-medium-to-thick profile - rising from 0.81 at the first fret to 0.85 at the third and 1.00 inch at the twelfth fret. Rosewood fretboard with 21 original small frets and clay dot position markers. Small headstock with decal with "Fender" 'Spaghetti' logo (1963-Summer 1964) in gold with black trim, "Stratocaster" in black beside it, and "With Synchronized Tremolo" and three patent numbers in black below. Single "butterfly" string tree with 'large' metal spacer. Individual "single-line" Kluson Deluxe tuners with oval metal buttons stamped on the underside "D-169400 / Patent No". The neck is dated "2 DEC 63B." Four-bolt neck plate with the serial number "93570" between the top two screws. Three black bottom white plastic-covered single-coil pickups with staggered polepieces and outputs of 6.09k, 6.07k, and 6.05k. Three-layer "minty" (greenish/black/white) plastic pickguard with eleven screws. Three controls (one volume, two tone) plus three-way selector switch, all on pickguard. White plastic knobs with green lettering. Jack socket in body face. The potentiometers are all stamped "304 6315" (Stackpole, April 1963). Fender "Synchronized Tremolo" combined bridge/tailpiece. The neck has been expertly re-finished but the face of the headstock with the original spaghetti logo has been left original. Under ultra-violet light the finish shows to be many years old… The aluminum shield under the pickguard has been replaced but otherwise all of the electrics, wiring, hardware including screws are all original. There is a small split in the pckguard o the bass side of the neck pickup (very common) and a few very small and insignificant dings and dents on the sides of the body. On the bass top edge there is some playing wear and the white 'fulloplast' is showing through. This guitar looks and sounds quite amazing. Complete with the original tremolo arm and bridge cover. Housed in it's original Fender three-latch rectangular cream hardshell case with black leather ends and dark orange plush lining (9.00). A great opportunity to own a Stevie Ray Vaughan year Stratocaster - expertly refinished in one of the rarest Fender colors at a fraction of the price of an all original example. Included in the case is the original ten-page hang-tag, the original black leather guitar strap, an original guitar cord, and the two case keys in their original manilla envelope.
Daphne Blue is one of the rarest of the Fender custom colors. Many of Fenders colors were from the automotive industry and Daphne Blue was used on Cadillac automobiles for the year 1958 and then on Fender guitars from 1960 thru 1965.
