One of the Very First A-150 Savoys

Weighs 5.70 lbs. and has a nut width of slightly over 1 5/8 inches and a scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Solid hand-carved Sitka spruce top, laminated maple back and sides, three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard with 20 frets and inlaid pearl block position markers. The top and the back are triple-bound, the neck is single-bound. Headstock with inlaid pearl "Guild" logo and pearl "Chesterfield" inlay. Individual open-back Grover StaTite tuners with butterbean metal buttons. The pickguard has been removed. Frequensated rosewood bridge on rosewood base and Guild "harp" tailpiece with cut-out "G." The serial number ("8151") is stamped on the back of the headstock. On the Guild white "ghost" label inside the bass f-hole the model name and serial number are just visible. This guitar is in very good (8.00) condition. There is quite a lot of wear to the guitar, including some belt buckle wear on the back, a few marks on the top and the sides, and a small area by the treble f-hole which is actually into the wood. Some of the body binding at the heel and at the waist is slightly shrunken. There are three small holes on the bass side of the end of the neck where a floating pickup had been fitted at one time. On the laminated face of the headstock, there are three small chips on the bass side edge. The pearl block markers markers for the 9th, 12th, 15th, and 17th frets are slightly shrunken. There are a couple of small indentations in the fretboard at the 13th and 14th fret, but these do not affect the playability. There is some minor fret wear, but the frets have plenty of life left in them. The neck is straight and the action on this guitar is nice and low and the neck has never had nor needed a reset. This is a good, honest, original guitar at a bargain basement price. Housed in a 1970s Gibson black hardshell case with purple plush lining (8.50).
