"One of the Most Popular Amps of All Time"

This is an all original 85 watt 'Twin Reverb' cabinet tube combo legend weighing 72 lbs. The solid pine cabinet measures 26 inches wide x 20 inches high (22 1/2 inches with the wheels). The depth of the cabinet is 9 inches at the top expanding to 10 1/2 inches at the bottom. Two original twelve-inch Fender Speakers with stamped codes: "328 205" (Utah), and "005379 8 ohms". 'Twin-channel' control panel with two 'normal' and two 'vibrato' instrument inputs. Two volume controls and a master volume control. Two 'treble', two 'middle', two 'bass', 'reverb', 'speed' and 'intensity' controls. Each channel with a separate 'bright' switch. The tubes are 3 x 7025; 2 x 12AT7; 1 x 12 AX7A and 4 x 6L6GC. Original black tolex covering with original silver-sparkle grill cloth. The serial number "A 431287" is stamped on the side of the chassis. The letters "Q" and "L" (December 1967) are stamped in black on the tube chart - BUT this amplifier dates from late 1971/early 1972. The potentiometers are all dated "137 7151" and "137 7152" (CTS, December 1971). The output transformers are stamped “606-2 03” and “606-2 04” (January 1972). The black tolex covering shows very little sign of wear and the original black plastic handle shows no sign of wear. An exceptionally fine (9.00) example of one of the most popular amps of all time.

The Twin Reverb was originally introduced in September 1963. "The blackface [and silverface] Twin Reverb speaks with a deep, rich voice, sonorous and confident. It is possibly the quintessential combo amp, having a wide tonal range, the sweet sound of spring reverb - as well as tremolo - and enough reserve power to fill most environments without being miked. This was most important in the sixties, becoming less of a consideration as the P.A. systems of the seventies progressed. But if you play with a hard-hitting drummer, being able to get a clean sound at a satisfactory stage volume can be difficult with 15-50-watt amps. This has made the Twin Reverb popular for years with country and jazz players, electric piano tinklers, and other non-rock musicians. Or turn it on 10, å la Ted Nugent, Johnny Thunders, et al." Teagle and Sprung. Fender Amps. The First Fifty Years (p. 85).
