The Cheapest '65 Guild Starfire lll on the Planet…

Weighs 6.40 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of just over 1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Laminated mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck, and bound rosewood fretboard with 20 frets and inlaid pearl dot position markers. Headstock with inlaid pearl "Guild" logo and pearl "Chesterfield" inlay. The tuners have been changed to Grover Rotomatics with metal buttons. Two humbucking pickups with outputs of 6.80k and 6.96k. Black plastic "stairstep" pickguard with gold silk-screened "Star" and "Guild" logo. Four controls (two volume, two tone) plus three-way selector switch and one master volume control. Metal knobs with knurled sides and black tops. Aluminum with pre-set compensating saddle and aluminum Guild Bigsby Vibrato tailpiece. This guitar is in good condition. The body and the back of the neck are very worn, the tuners have been changed, and there is a metal strengthening plate on the jack input -- and the plastic truss rod cover is missing… but still, it's a great player!

We have examined this guitar under a black light and can confirm that there have been no breaks or repairs (other than the jack-input). The guitar has a great fat nut width, the frets have some wear but still have plenty of life left in them. The action is good… the Grover Rotomatics obviously worked better than the original tuners… the original pickups have good strong outputs, the electronics are all working fine, and the original Guild/Bigsby tailpiece is good working order.

This super mid-sixties piece has been lovingly played and played and played and played and played, but this 'gig-master' apparently did not wipe his guitar down after each night's 'long' performance under the 'hot' lights…

The list price in 1965 was $395.00.

ps. a little tender loving care will go a long way…
