An All Original Sixties 'Stud-Tail' Epiphone Olympic.


This early 1965 and very light guitar weighs just 5.30 lbs. Asymmetrical double cutaway, one-piece solid mahogany body and one-piece mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, 22 original jumbo frets and pearl dot inlays. Serial number "254592" stamped in black on back of headstock. Six-in-a-row 'single-line' Kluson Deluxe tuners with white plastic oval buttons. The scale length is a standard Gibson 24 3/4 inches and the nut width is 1 9/16 inches. Single Melody Maker single-coil pickup in the bridge position with an output of 6.85k. Single-layer white plastic pickguard with inlaid silver Epiphone 'Epsilon' and eight screws. Two controls (one volume, one tone) and jack socket, all on pickguard. Black plastic ribbed-sided knobs with metal tops with red markings. The potentiometers are stamped "134 6451" & "134 6501"(Centralab December 1964 & January 1965). Combination ridged "wrap-over" 'stud' bridge tailpiece with two intonation 'grub' screws. There are a couple of very small and insignificant surface marks/ dings on the body otherwise this all original guitar is in exceptionally fine (9.00) condition with just the bare minimum of fading and some fine finish checking to the cherry finish. Housed in the original (quite worn) Epiphone three-latch, shaped, gray softshell case with blue felt lining (8.50).

According to a 1965 Epiphone price, list this guitar sold for $189.50.
