Very Rare Blonde Beauty

Laminated spruce top and laminated curly maple back and sides, a five-piece maple/walnut neck, and an ebony fretboard with 20 frets and pearl block inlays with abalone V inserts. With a nice, fat nut width of 1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 24 3/4 inches. With two DeArmond single-coil pickups with gold-plated surrounds and whacking 14.60k and 16.00k outputs. Black plastic pickguard with gold Guild logo. Four controls (two volume, two tone) plus three-way selector switch. Wooden frequensated bridge and Guild harp tailpiece. This very rare and totally original guitar, weighs in at 7.60 lbs., and is in excellent condition. A few marks on the sides, some wear to the back of the neck, light body checking. An exceptional player. Housed in its original hardshell case.

In looks and size, the Stuart X-500B was quite close to the Epiphone Zephyr De Luxe Regent from the early 50s and proved to be a very successful guitar, which remained in the Guild line for many years. It was a very expensive guitar -- the new price in 1961 was $540.00. This rare and best version, with the DeArmond pickups was only manufactured between 1961 and 1963.
